Tree Maintenance Logan

Arbor Lite maintains trees across Logan on a set schedule: annual health inspections, deadwooding, canopy thinning, crown lifts and formative pruning on young stock. Our arborists cut to AS 4373-2007, the Australian Standard for pruning of amenity trees, which places every cut at the branch collar so the wound seals instead of rotting back into the trunk. We carry public liability cover and work house blocks, body corporate grounds and commercial sites from our base in Greenbank out to Beenleigh and Logan Village.

Storm season here runs October to March. The trees that come down in it are usually the ones that spent the previous year carrying deadwood or a heavy, one-sided canopy, and both are still pruning jobs while they are small. Book a free tree health inspection and an arborist walks the property with you, records what each tree needs and roughly when, then puts the schedule in writing before anything is booked in.

TREE MAINTENANCE

Tree Maintenance Work We Do in Logan

Deadwooding, canopy thinning, crown lifts and formative pruning, booked yearly or half-yearly.

Deadwooding. We take out the dead and hanging limbs sitting in the upper canopy of mature gums and figs. Those are the pieces that drop in the first real southerly of the season. They come out without touching the live structure of the tree, and on a mature eucalypt we usually find between five and fifteen worth removing.

Canopy thinning and crown lifts. Thinning lets wind pass through a dense canopy. A crown lift raises the lower limbs clear of a roof, driveway or fence line. We take no more than a quarter of the live canopy in one visit, because going past that triggers a flush of weak regrowth that needs cutting again in two years.

Formative pruning on young trees. On trees under about five years old we shape the structure early: one central leader, branches spaced along it, no tight forks that split in twenty years. A few cuts now decide the shape it holds for the rest of its life.

Tree health inspections. We check the root plate, trunk, branch unions and canopy for what actually turns up in this area: Ganoderma bracket fungi at the base, included bark in forked gums, borer damage in wattles. You get a written note of what we found and what it needs.

TREE MAINTENANCE PRICING

What Tree Maintenance Costs in Logan

Maintenance is priced by the job, because two crews can take very different times over the same tree. As a guide, a small tree of five to seven metres runs $325 to $450. A two-storey tree of eight to eleven metres runs $450 to $690. A large tree over twelve metres sits between $790 and $1,320. A canopy lift on its own falls between $200 and $700, and deadwooding a five to ten metre tree between $150 and $600.

Prices exclude GST and are a guide rather than a quote. Small jobs sit at the upper end because setup and travel do not scale down. Quoting happens after a site visit.

What Moves the Price of a Tree Maintenance Visit

Height and reach decide most of it. A tree a groundsman can reach from an orchard ladder is a different job to one needing a climber on rope and harness, and a tree over a roof or a pool is different again, because every piece has to be lowered on a line.

Access comes next. Where the chipper can park within a hose length of the tree, debris handling is quick. Where it has to come through a side gate on a wheelbarrow, that is where the hours go.

Season matters more than people expect. Spring and summer demand across South East Queensland pushes rates up, and the same prune booked in June costs materially less. Then species: a poinciana with brittle wood and a heavy lateral spread takes longer than a callistemon of the same height.

How a Tree Maintenance Visit Runs

1. Tree Health Inspection

An arborist walks the property with you and checks each tree at the root plate, trunk, branch unions and canopy. We note what needs doing now, what can wait a season, and anything mapped under the Logan Planning Scheme 2015 that changes what we are allowed to cut. The inspection costs nothing.

2. Maintenance Schedule and Written Quote

You get the schedule in writing: which trees, what work on each, and when in the year it should happen. Most Logan house blocks settle on one visit a year ahead of storm season. Acreage and body corporate grounds usually run half-yearly.

3. Pruning to AS 4373 and Site Clean-Up

Cuts are placed at the branch collar to AS 4373-2007. Nothing is topped and nothing is left as a stub. Green goes through the chipper, and we can leave the chip as mulch on your garden beds or take it away. Tell us which on the day.

FAQ’s

Tree Maintenance FAQs

1. What does tree maintenance cost in Logan?

Between $150 and $1,320 for most visits. A deadwood clean on a five to ten metre tree starts around $150. A full prune on a small tree runs $325 to $450, and a large tree over twelve metres sits between $790 and $1,320. Figures exclude GST and we quote after a site visit.
We check it before quoting. Logan City Council protects two categories of vegetation under the Logan Planning Scheme 2015: primary vegetation, which is all native vegetation shown on the mapping, and secondary vegetation, which is native trees over 4 metres tall or with a trunk circumference of 31.5 centimetres or more. The Queensland definition of clearing excludes lopping a tree, so routine pruning is treated differently to removal. We run the council vegetation clearing decision tool for your address and tell you what it returns.
Once a year for most suburban trees, timed before the October to March storm season. Fast growers such as poinciana and African tulip want a look every six months. Trees under five years old benefit from a formative prune each winter while the cuts are still small.
AS 4373-2007, the Australian Standard for pruning of amenity trees. Every cut sits at the branch collar so the wound can seal. We do not top trees and we do not leave stubs, because both invite decay into the trunk.
We cover the Logan local government area from our base in Greenbank, including Browns Plains, Beenleigh, Logan Village, Springwood, Shailer Park, Jimboomba and Park Ridge.
